Comedian Glen Maney

Glen Maney is now a seasoned veteran of the comedy circuit.

 Cutting his teeth in stag he started to write his own material and soon became known on the mainstream and 'alternative' circuits and has performed a one man show at the prestigious Edinburgh Fringe Festival.

 He has played more than 1500 gigs worldwide including most of the top comedy clubs and made appearances at top festivals such as the Manchester Comedy Festival.

 He's also a favourite on the corporate circuit and a particular favourite of the armed services who he has entertained on numerous occasions both in the UK and abroad.

 He was the first comedian to play Stars and Bars club in Monaco and got a tremendous response. Glen was also Rapido TV's 'Stark Naked Chef' in their 'Talent' show and has numerous TV appearances under his belt.

 A prolific comedy writer Glen has written for TV and Radio and has many 'creative copywriting' credits to his name. So whether it's your wedding, your stag night or you just want someone to make you laugh at a family gathering Glen is probably your man.

 BBC Radio London ‘A very funny man with very funny material’ Lee Mack – ‘Glen always makes me laugh !’ The London Evening Standard ‘ Glen Maney has funny bones. His dark humour can cut a room like a knife and then make it shriek with laughter with a cunning punch line.’

Come along for a great treat at the ARC Community Gallery, Reddish, Stockport July 27th 2013.

There are chances to experience and take part in the arts this summer at the Arc Community Gallery in Reddish.

 On Saturday 27th July The Gallery and studios will be open for a special ‘Arc Academy’ – when visitors can have a go at several arty activities such as painting, clay modelling and paper craft. 

All the activities have a summer magical garden theme and are open to all for a small fee – adults and children.

There will be refreshments and the Gallery will be open.


 The Arc Community Gallery is also extending it’s popular Summer Exhibition has been extended until Friday 16th August, open weekdays 10 – 4.

 Families are welcome over the holidays, as are groups but please contact us first. The exhibition is full of wonderful pieces to look at - paintings, drawings, sculpture, textiles, ceramics and jewellery as well as plenty of affordable items for sale and entry is free.

We are building up to a spectacular weekend of athletics action in Manchester, with the BBC television cameras there to bring the action to your living room.

 On Saturday, live on BBC One from 1.00pm to 2.30pm it’s the BT Great CityGames Manchester featuring some golden names from London 2012 including Greg Rutherford, Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce and Jonnie Peacock.

And on Sunday 40,000 runners will take to the streets for the Bupa Great Manchester Run, featuring the world’s greatest ever distance runner, the legendary Haile Gebrselassie.

 You can catch the action live on BBC Two from 10am to 12.30pm.

In the 80′s Johnnie Kennedy suddenly decided to enter Ladbrokes ’Search for a Star.’

He got to the National finals. This was to launch him into into gigging and appearing on TV and many various tribute acts events.

He then realised that the entertainment industry was really turning towards tribute acts.

Show business is a rare phenomenon where age does not matter and good songs stand the test of time.

Joining the army of tribute acts seemed like a good option. Johnnie Kennedy is available as a professional Tom Jones Tribute singer – as seen in Las Vegas – with Big Elvis - for all corporate events and is also available in his own right as a recording artiste.

 Craig Moritz (With You). Catchy tune, lovely music and vocals. Flows well, sang sweetly with a rich pleasant voice, love it.Very professional sounding, liked it a lot.

 Jannecke (The Back Row). Beautiful voice and uses it well. A treat to listen to. Lovely voice and enjoyed the song very much.

 Jannecke (Let It Go). Another great song, sung well by a lady with great musical talent, keep them coming.

A Country Corner - Hawkesbury Radio May 19th 2013

'A Country Corner' with Yvonne Bartle on 'Hawkesbury Radio 89.9 FM' over there in 'not so warm now' Australia came up trumps again today with a cracking show filled with 3 hours of awesome Country Music.

We tried hard to keep up with Yvonne as she played track after track of songs that we either knew, loved, or will get to know and love.

Songs like Sherry Lynn - Breaking Up Song - that started off the show.

Nikki Gillis hit our ears with a fine version of 'Son Of A Preacher Man'. Nikki is planning a tour of the UK in 2013 and as soon as we have the details we'll be blogging them.

Jannecke - a fine singer from Iceland (the country) was introduced to the listeners with her latest song 'The Back Row' - we think you'll like this.

Round about 10.20am our time Yvonne Bartle played Belle Cannon - 'I Wanna Be The Woman' from the album 'Rewind' recorded out in Nashville in 2010.

This was closely followed by a name new to us - Doug Bruce - with his song 'Thank God I'm a Cowboy'. Doug has been around a while so we were thankful for the introduction to his fine music.

Special mention was given to Lee Kerrighan - again another new name to us - who tells the story of his meeting with the late and great Slim Whitman 'Flying With The King'. This is definitely one for the Country Music Collection.

Andy Martin - again another Hillcrest / BelleJar Records favourite - had an airing with his track 'Blue Trail Of Sorrow'.

Special mention from us for the yodelling expertise of Arthur Blanch.

Another artiste that drew our attention was American singer Rebecca Linda Smith with an upbeat song about love.

Thankyou Yvonne for yet another 3 hours of highly entertaining banter and most of all ....quality Country Music .......you're doing a great job at Hawkesbury Radio!

Hawkesbury Radio. A great little community radio station in Sydney's North West. Firmly founded in the local community, the station provides interesting content related to the Hawkesbury area, sports, music and talk aimed at the local listeners.

We caught up with Chart legend Bonnie Tyler to find out about her new album, Rocks And Honey and what she's got in store for this year's Eurovision Song Contest!

 Bonnie Tyler, who is set to represent the UK in the Eurovision Song Contest, released her sixteenth studio album Rocks And Honey earlier this week.

To celebrate her first new material in nearly eight years (and the UK's first Eurovision win in nearly 16 years?! -- well, we can dream, can't we?) we invited the Welsh Chart legend round for a chat!

 The album's lead single, Believe In Me, has been all over radio and TV since being announced as the UK's entry for the 2013 Eurovision Song Contest. But, according to Bonnie, it was never intended to a Eurovision song.

 "While I was in Nashville recording Rocks And Honey, I met up with Desmond Child who I'd worked with many years ago," she explains. "So we went up for dinner at his house and he gave me some songs and I really particularly loved Believe In Me and a track that's on the album called Stubborn.

But he said 'But it isn't finished Bonnie!'

So I said 'I love this song, I'd love to record it.'

So he finished it at the dinner table, which as very, very unusual [laughs].

But that's Desmond Child for you!"

 The first time Bonnie will perform any of her new album live will be at Eurovision, which is set to take place in Malmo, Sweden. (May 18).

 "Please support me!" asks Bonnie.

"You know you can't vote for your own country, so please vote for me if you're not from the UK!

Facebook your foreign friends and say 'Will you support our Bonnie?'." We also asked Bonnie about her mega-hit, Total Eclipse Of The Heart, which reached Number 1 on the Official Singles Chart 30 years ago this year.

 "Total Eclipse Of The Heart was out like 30 years ago? But I'm only 39!" she laughs. "Thank God for Botox, that's what I always say!"

Peter May - UK Singer Songwriter

Introducing the awesome talents of singer songwriter Peter May from Liverpool.

  First bitten by the musical bug at the age of 8 Peter was winning talent competitions throughout the UK even at that tender age.

 He later attended major auditions for top recording labels Sony/Epic (Nomis Studios for Sugarfree Records, a subsidiary label to Epic...where Peter met Paul Weller) and management labels Byrne Blood (Steps) and First Avenue Management (Eternal, Louise Redknapp, Honeyz, Dina Carrol.

Peter still uses the references to these where he beat off thousands of competitors to attend the HQs of these major music industry establishments....performing in front of MDs Oliver Smallman and Dennis Ingoldsby.

 In 2000, Peter thought he had made a major breakthrough, signing for production team Kintish Morrow Productions Ltd, who manufactured a band 'North by North West' in which Peter was an influential member.

 'North By North West' recorded singles that were presented to A&R Execs for Telstar, Sony and Universal (Polydor).

 They later signed a management deal with Elliot Davis at Purple Music Company and were promised a record deal by Universal (Polydor) for European Territories, after impressing then A&R Director Paul Murphy.

Unfortunately, the deal fell through when Paul Murphy left Polydor and decided to work freelance in the US.

Just came across these guys following us on Twitter - The Boxettes - Industry Music.

 

Soweto (Africa) Entsha 2013 Festival Appearance

It all started with some a capella song performed in a small restaurant in their neighbourhood and led to a French tour with the first part of a world-renowned show (AfricanFootprint) and ended with the release of their first CD.

Soweto Entsha. The story of Morgan, Lwazi, Jabu and Zensele looks like something from a fairy tale.

 The difference is that this is pure reality.

Soweto (Africa) Entsha are now back in the UK for this year's Festival appearances.

The next Festival appearance in UK is at Rickmansworth Festival. Sat 18th May 2013. Aquadrome Main Stage and Arena. On stage at 16.20pm.

  Flashback:  Less that two years ago, their scene was the streets of the township with no other perspective than basking for a few rands and no fame. 

 Their only antidote to poverty, unemployment, violence, delinquency and boredom was singing.

 3. Insulation. You could save £310 a year on your heating bills by installing cavity wall insulation and by topping up the insulation in your loft.

 4. Use energy savings lightbulbs. They last up to 10 times longer than ordinary lightbulbs.

 5. Wash at 30 degrees Celsius. This uses about 40% less electricity than at a higher temperature.

At present there are more than 750,000 people in the UK affected by dementia. By 2021 it will have risen to I million. 1 in 3 over 65's die with dementia.

It can happen to anyone.

With dementia there is confusion, problems with speech and understanding. The loss of our most precious memories.

Susan was diagnosed at 57 years old. She is now 63.

The progressiveness at such an early age is quicker. More aggressive.

Susan has Alzheimer's and Vascular Dementia.

These are Susan's memories, glimpsed through the family album. The family now caring for Susan. A wife. A mother. An incredible life-force.

Susan, a mother who, despite her illness, occasionally remembers.

Suffering with the burden of a rapid decline, both physically and mentally, means that Susan's family will not enjoy her presence Xmas 2012.
